For example, before remodeling your home make sure that you familiarize yourself with asbestos. Asbestos is a naturally occurring mineral fiber that have been used in every continent for construction purposes. Chances are any house built prior to 1980 will have some asbestos in it. Asbestos becomes dangerous when the fibers are airborn, usually there is no risk of contamination until asbestos is disturbed.

Asbestos is a carcinogen that is the only proven cause of mesothelioma, a fatal cancer. There is no cure for this cancer but there are extensive mesothelioma treatments that may help victims.
